For several days, I have heard the Lord saying, “Quench not, grieve not.”
I Thessalonians 5:19 says, “Quench not the Spirit.” And Ephesians 4:30 says, “And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God…”
I have heard this taught before, but today, He was reminding me again of this delicate balance.
Some things that grieve the Holy Spirit are:
• blatant sin and defilement
• selfish motives and agendas
• demonic infiltration
• failure to walk in godly authority, bringing proper correction to those who are doing these things.
Some things that quench the Holy Spirit are:
• trying to control or manipulate people
• not giving people freedom to learn and grow and make mistakes
• striving, good works and trying to be people’s Holy Spirit
• not giving the Holy Spirit room to move
• not allowing messes that come simply from immaturity
• choosing man’s “order,” man’s ways and man’s thoughts over God’s
We can only avoid these two opposing pitfalls with the help of the Holy Spirit. In the flesh, we will always err toward what is most familiar and comfortable to us. God is preparing us to steward a great outpouring, so we must develop greater wisdom and sensitivity to His leading. We must notice immediately when He has pulled back and then ask Him to show us if something is quenching or grieving Him. We must be absolutely dependent upon Him, realizing that without Him, what we are doing is fruitless. He is gentle in temperament, though fiercely powerful. Places of self and hardness in our hearts keep us from perceiving His nearness (or absence), just as Samson did not know the Lord had departed from him (Judges 16:20).
I did a little research on what ended the Azusa Street revival and, though no one knows for certain, it appears that one important factor was that spiritualists and palm readers began to sneak in, exerting demonic influence over the meetings….and William Seymour did not stop them. One of his greatest strengths was his willingness to keep his hands off and to allow the Holy Spirit to have total freedom in the meetings, no matter what it looked like. But his corresponding weakness was his failure to properly correct those who persisted in operating lawlessly and who were grieving the Spirit of God. It seems that similar issues have quenched many other revivals, including the Welch Revival.
Many leaders throughout revival history have either erred by quenching the Holy Spirit through heavy handed control or by grieving Him by allowing people to exploit His presence for selfish or occult agendas. And it is actually His mercy that causes Him to withdraw (Acts 5:1-11). The Holy Spirit will neither be controlled or exploited.
Have you ever been given a prophetic word that did not come to pass? This can be a very difficult and disappointing test, especially if the thing prophesied is near to the heart. It is in times like this that we are strengthened, and we are given an opportunity to trade into the realm of eternity with our continued faithfulness and worship. And as much as we may want to abandon prophetic ministry in order to avoid the pain, we must choose to “…not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good.” (I Thessalonians 5:20-21). In other words, “Don’t throw out the baby with the bath water!” We must realize that accuracy in the prophetic increases as we grow to maturity and are conformed to the image of Christ.
I Corinthians 13:8-10, “Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect (mature) has come, then that which is in part will be done away.”
I was recently asking the Lord about this, and here is what He said to me: “Time, because it is a created thing and because creation is fallen, is subject to demonic manipulation. The enemy cannot stop My Word from coming to pass, so he attempts to steal the seed by causing the recipient to disqualify himself through sin, disobedience or unbelief. If he cannot do this, he will manipulate time, hoping to cause so much disappointment and ‘hope deferred’ that the person gives up. This is why you will reap ’in due time’ if you do not give up.”
Faithful Stewarding and Persistence
We live in an instant society. We expect quick. And easy. We do not understand the ways of God and often think that because something is difficult or uncomfortable, we have done something wrong. And we quit. But that is all part of a demonic plan to cause us to be unfruitful. Instead, we must realize that persistence in the face of hardship prepares us to steward something, and faithfully stewarding that thing prepares us to steward more.
So, if you are in the midst of opposition or seeming delay, simply yield to the strengthening, the maturation and the preparation that is happening within you. Begin to thank God for the opportunity to sow into His precious promises, knowing that your labor is not in vain in Him (I Corinthians 15:58).
Rearranging the Stars & Supernatural Redeeming of Time
Genesis 1:14 says that the sun, moon and stars were given to us for times and seasons.
Several years ago, a prophetic friend of mine had a dream where she saw me worshipping and interceding on the keyboard, and, though she didn’t totally understand it, she knew that it had something to do with the alignment of the stars and some promises of God manifesting on the earth. That left me with more questions than answers, so I began asking the Lord if I align with the stars or if I align them.
A few weeks later, I began having a series of encounters where Jesus spoke to me out of Song of Solomon 2: “Arise, My love, My fair one, and come away.” He grabbed me by the hand and we flew into the stars, where together, we rearranged them.
When Jesus’ flesh was torn, the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom. In Him, we have access to God the Father and we also have access to dimensions outside of time. All that Adam lost, Christ gave us back. (Genesis 1:28, Psalm 8, Revelation 5:10). So, in complete submission to Yeshua, we walk in dominion over creation, fulfilling the original mandate (Genesis 1:28). Creation came out of alignment at the fall, and is still subject to powers of darkness. It longs to be brought back into submission and proper alignment to the plans, purposes and seasons of God… and that will happen through us!
During a recent encounter, the Father gave me an assignment….. So, in obedience, I stood firmly in the place where I was assigned, and I decreed DIVINE ORDER and JUSTICE into the stars. The stars were rejoicing and singing as they came into alignment with the will of the Father. They were praising Him for His wisdom, kindness and majesty. And I could feel their yearning to please Him, to submit to Him and to fulfill His will. I saw them smiling and dancing.
They began to explain to me, “Our job is to govern the times and the seasons, and to display His glory. Our delight is to be in perfect alignment with His will and to release His perfect timing. Mankind was given dominion over creation, including us; therefore we became subject to futility at the fall. As you rise and take your place, bringing us back into alignment, we will be the vehicle of His will manifesting upon the earth. We are responsible to steward ‘due time,’ ‘perfect time,’ ‘the fullness of time,’ and ‘the time of life.’ We bow to the verdicts of the heavenly court, releasing the seasons of judgment, justice, grace, mercy and peace upon the earth. We cooperate with the Jubilee season by ‘redeeming the time,’ according to the edicts of the Father. And it is our great delight to do this. All creation longs to be fully submitted to our Holy and Righteous King, for His kindness and generosity have no end!”
Then they began to sing the most beautiful song! It was like nothing I’ve ever heard… harmonious, yet not at all in an earthly musical way. I began to see what a small box earthly worship is in. Each one sang praise to God in its own way, forming a heavenly symphony of sound, light, frequency and color that began to resonate in every fiber of my being. My heart of love, reverence and adoration for God aligned me with their song, and I knew that I was being filled with something very ancient and yet new to me. I knew by the Spirt that it was changing me and that it would be released through me. I entered the realm of timelessness so that I could stay there as long as the Father desired. And the longer I stayed, the more I began to resonate and vibrate, like sympathetic vibration in a stringed instrument.
The Father then spoke, “The sons of Issachar knew the times and seasons. But I am raising up My sons to govern the times and seasons. Those who practice lawlessness have grieved the celestial bodies by forcing them out of alignment with My will, But My justice is now being released on their behalf, as these lawless ones are judged and displaced, and then replaced by My sons, who can be trusted to bring them into proper alignment. This is why creation groans and travails for their manifestation.”
Romans 8:19-22, “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.“
Jesus Christ is the One “who is and who was and who is to come” (Revelation 1:8). He encompasses present, past and future. So as we enter through through Yeshua (the Gate), we can:
1. Redeem the past… so that things which were done or not done in past seasons can be supernaturally redeemed and brought back into alignment with the will of the Father.
Ephesians 5:15-16 , “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
It is no coincidence that God took Abram (a Chaldean, who understood the stars) outside to look at the stars when He made a covenant with him promising him descendants (Genesis 15:5). Then, after many years, God appeared to Abraham again, saying, “At the appointed time, I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” (Genesis 18:14). And that is exactly what happened! God supernaturally redeemed a season that had long passed, making possible something that was “impossible” in this natural realm. Nothing is too hard for our God!
2. Access the future
Once the Lord said to me, “You do know that what you are contending for is for another generation, right? This generation, for the most part, is not yet ready.” My initial reaction was one of disappointment. But within minutes, the Holy Spirit reminded me of an encounter with Melchezidek several years earlier, where he drew 3 dots on a whiteboard and began revealing that past, present and future are simply portals into the eternal realm. Shortly after that encounter, I began seeing the eyes of Jesus as deep pools of eternity into which I felt irresistibly drawn. After having this encounter numerous times, I suddenly saw Melchizedek’s timeline superimposed over the face of Jesus, with past and future aligning with His eyes. The middle dot, the present, was in the center of His forehead, aligned with the location of the pineal gland in the brain. Through Yeshua Ha Mashiach, our Lord Jesus Christ, we can enter the realm of timelessness, where all things are freely available to us!
Genesis 32:30, “So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”
After the Holy Spirit’s gentle reminder of all that is possible, I asked the Lord if He would allow me to eat from the fruit of something that was for another generation, and, with a smile, He said “Yes.”
This is no new concept. We know that David accessed the New Covenant before Jesus came in the flesh, because he said “…Do not take Your Holy Spirit from me” (Psalm 51:11) before the Holy Spirit was actually given in Acts 2. And David’s tabernacle had no veil! The Apostle Paul even referred to himself as “one born out of due time” (I Corinthians 15:8)!
Keys to Redeeming Time:
1. A true revelation of Communion is a way of restoring our DNA!
Several years ago, I began seeing Jacob’s ladder as Jesus, the Bridge between heaven and earth and between us and the Father. Then, one day, I saw it twist to become a strand of DNA. Much later, I encountered my DNA as a bridge, enabling me to walk with the Father on the Ancient Paths. It was still in some need of repair, but I knew that, because of all the work I had been doing (appropriating the finished work of Christ on the Cross to my DNA), it was now strong enough to support me on this journey. Then recently, when the Father spoke to me about time, He again showed me my DNA strand, this time as a ladder. And I knew by the Spirit that by climbing this ladder, I could ascend by faith to that place where I am above time, ruling and reigning over it.
The power of the Gospel is that we have truly been born again! We are no longer of our father Adam, but because of what Yeshua did for us, we are of the bloodline of our Father, God. The mystery of communion is a means of translating a spiritual reality into the realm of earth, transforming us into who we really are!
2. Worship and intercession are also portals through which we can enter a dimension outside of time.
In Judges 4, we see God delivering Israel from the oppression of King Jabin of Canaan and the commander of his army, Sisera. In chapter 5, Deborah sang a prophetic song worshipping God for this glorious victory and revealing a key to us:
Judges 5:20, “From the heavens the stars fought, from their courses they fought against Sisera.”
So, here we see God, our Victorious King, moving the stars to war on behalf of His people. True worship is a doorway to encounter and a powerful tool for spiritual victory!
3. Ascending by faith
Ephesians 2:4-7, “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
We are created in the image of God and paint an earthly picture of the Trinity by being spirit, soul and body. At salvation, our spirits are made alive and are seated with Christ in heavenly places. We are literally in Christ! Through the revelatory gifts, our souls become conscious of what our spirits are actually doing, enabling us to live in the reality of the unseen realm. Sometimes, God sovereignly initiates these kinds of encounters. But we also, in childlike faith, can choose to enter through Yeshua the Door (John 10:1-10), always remaining in a posture of total surrender to Him. As we faithfully steward the realm of encounter, we will find the unseen realm becoming more real to us than the seen (II Corinthians 4:18). And we will find that victories that seemed illusive when we were earth-bound are easily won in heavenly places and are simply manifested here on earth.
So, if you are in the midst of hardship or delay, if you need a supernatural redeeming of time, or if you simply feel the stirring of eternity in your heart, just say YES. In time, your soul will become conscious of what your spirit already knows very well.
Father, I honor You and acknowledge that You are my always-victorious King. There is nothing too hard for You. I say YES to Your will and YES to your ways, even though I may not understand them with my human mind. I acknowledge that Your ways and Your thoughts are truly higher. I yield to the draw of heaven which You have placed inside my heart (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Give me eyes to see what is really real. Teach me to live out of those heavenly places where I am seated in Christ. Thank You, Yeshua, for laying down Your life so that I may know the Father and may experience the reality of the heavenly realm. I receive Your grace to live as a son of God and a citizen of heaven!
Recently, I felt impressed to cry out to the Lord to hear His voice more clearly. He then began to speak to me about… THE TRADE
What Adam lost has been given back to us in Christ, and it was freely given. But we must gain spiritual authority (maturity) in order to steward it, causing it to manifest tangibly in this earth realm.
Galatians 3:26-4:6: “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
This maturing process happens, in part, on the Trading Floor, which is a real place in the realm of the Spirit. Jesus talked about this in Matthew 10:39, when He said, “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” This was spoken in context of when He sent His 12 disciples out, giving them authority over sickness and demonic powers.
THE GATE OF WILL: SAYING YES AND SAYING NO
So, the price for hearing is radical obedience, which predominately has to do with the gate of our will. The gate of our will, when functioning properly, says YES to all that is of God and NO to all else (whether it be the will of others or of our own sinful flesh). If we are not in total submission to God, we will be unable to say yes. If we are abdicating responsibility of our lives to others and are not properly governing this life that has been entrusted to us to steward, we will not be able to say no. We hear a lot in the church about the submission part (because authoritarian structures, including religious institutions, love submissive people—even if it is false submission). But we hear very little about self-governing and saying no. Institutions are always threatened by those they cannot control. If you were raised in an abusive or authoritarian home or church, you probably fall more in this category. IF YOU ARE SUBMITTING TO ANYTHING OTHER THAN GOD, YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO FULLY SUBMIT TO GOD. YOU CANNOT GIVE TO HIM WHAT YOU ARE NOT POSSESSING. Here are some common roots of this type of disobedience:
*Self and sins of the flesh
*Fear of man
*Busy-ness, distraction, cares of this life
Jesus taught in parables (mysteries) so that those who had hearts to obey would hear and those who did not would be spared from greater judgment. It is a manifestation of His great mercy. When Jesus said, “Forgive them, Father, for they do not know what they are doing,” He was not being nice. He was speaking literally, and also revealing a spiritual law.
Matthew 13:10-12, “And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.’
DANIEL, OUR PROTOTYPE
We are called to steward the mysteries of the kingdom. If we are not fully obedient, these mysteries will not be revealed to us. Daniel is our example of one who was trusted by God with His deep mysteries. In Daniel 1:17-20, Daniel and his 3 friends were said to be 10 times better than all the king’s magicians and astrologers in “all matters of wisdom and understanding.” They had the 7 Spirits of God resting upon them. In Daniel 2, King Nebuchadnezzar had a troubling dream that he couldn’t remember, and he demanded, with threat of death, that his wise men reveal the dream and it’s meaning. They were unable, but Daniel 2: 19-23 says:
“Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven. Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding: He reveals deep and hidden things: He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him. To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for You have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of you, for you have made known to us the king’s matter.”
In October of 2012, I kept hearing “land of Shinar” (which is a term for Babylon, our modern-day Iraq). In April of 2012, I had one of the most profound spiritual encounters I have ever had. It involved an angel named Daniel and Daniel in the Bible. The encounter had to do with putting on immortality, transrelocation, and supernatural sustenance. Ever since then, one of my questions to the Lord was, “Why Daniel?” About a year later, I had an encounter with a huge menorah which were the Seven Spirits of God, and God told me that they had been sent to grow me to maturity, to teach me the protocols of the kingdom, how to go in and out, up and down and to and fro, and how to interact with spiritual dignitaries. And He revealed to me that Daniel is our prototype of what a mature, fully manifested son looks like operating within but not under the Babylonian (world) system.
For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.”
The children of Israel were slaves for 400 years, had lost their culture, their language, their identity. Though God gave them the promised land when they left Egypt, it took 40 years to get the slave mentality out of them, so that they could possess the land. In the same way, we have been sold into slavery to this world system. So, by faith, we rise above this earthly plane and this Babylonian system into a higher dimension and we decree and we operate as kings, not slaves! God is dealing ruthlessly with our victim mentality, because slaves do not rule. This next cycle/season is about ruling and reigning with Christ, releasing His kingdom and dominion on this earth “as it is in heaven.”
THE WORDS OF A KING
In order to rule and reign, we must have manifested authority in our spoken words. Obviously, this will require trading in all gossip, slander, words of judgment, and perverse language. I have had numerous encounters with the Spirit of Wisdom, several of which emphasized the importance of guarding our tongue.
Proverbs 8: 1-16:
Does not wisdom cry out,
And understanding lift up her voice?
She takes her stand on the top of the high hill,
Beside the way, where the paths meet.
She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city,
At the entrance of the doors:
“To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men.
O you simple ones, understand prudence,
And you fools, be of an understanding heart.
Listen, for I will speak of excellent things,
And from the opening of my lips will come right things;
For my mouth will speak truth;
Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
All the words of my mouth are with righteousness;
Nothing crooked or perverse is in them.
They are all plain to him who understands,
And right to those who find knowledge.
Receive my instruction, and not silver,
And knowledge rather than choice gold;
For wisdom is better than rubies,
And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.
“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence,
And find out knowledge and discretion.
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil;
Pride and arrogance and the evil way
And the perverse mouth I hate.
Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom;
I am understanding, I have strength.
By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice.
By me princes rule, and nobles, All the judges of the earth.
We all know Proverbs 18:21, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” But if we desire to walk in the fullness of all that God has for us in this new season, we must live in the reality of what we know. Jesus carried the full manifestation of the creative power of the Father in His spoken words, and everything He spoke happened. Creative miracles took place, people were healed and raised from the dead, demons submitted totally and immediately. And the fig tree, which he cursed, also withered and died. I have always wondered why He did this. It seems like a random story within a story. But now I realize that it was a demonstration of what this kind of authority can do. PLACING THE KIND OF AUTHORITY WE HAVE PRAYED FOR ON OUR LIPS WOULD BE LIKE GIVING A MACHINE GUN TO A CHILD, IF WE ARE NOT MATURE AND WALKING IN THE SELF-CONTROL THAT IS A FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. So, not only do we need to repent (change our mindset) about the obvious sins of the tongue, but also the not so obvious ones:
*Words of man’s wisdom. (our opinions that we have not taken the time to ask God about)
*Keeping our word (saying things like “I’ll pray for you” when we never do)
ANGER AND MATURITY
It may seem that the Word of God gives two different standards when it comes to anger and venting honest emotions. On one hand, the Bible says to be angry but not to sin by letting the sun do down upon our wrath (sealed for a daily cycle). David vented some very raw and honest emotions in the Psalms. On the other hand, what about the passages where Jesus commands us to turn the other cheek?
The Divine tension of truth: When negative emotions are inside of us as a result of sinful or immature responses to pain, we must let them out. There is grace to be honest with God, and it doesn’t have to be pretty. Being honest with Him and with ourselves and ridding ourselves of this emotional baggage is a necessary part of the healing and maturing process. But once we are in a place of wholeness and maturity, with the garbage and the pain no longer inside of us, we will have the maturity and the Divine grace to live by a higher standard, a standard appropriate for a mature son. There will then be abundant grace to “turn the other cheek.”
We set ourselves up for failure and condemnation by trying to apply a true word out of season and by trying to please God by doing something He is not asking of us at this time. We must be led by His Spirit, because He knows our maturity level, what the Father is requiring of us and what He is empowering us to do. We must not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, by trying to figure it out or trying to do “good” in our own power. Instead, we must eat from the Tree of Life, which is every word that proceeds from the mouth of God… absolute dependence upon Him. WE CANNOT PLEASE HIM WITHOUT HIM!
A HIGHER STANDARD
God once told me that He was calling me to a higher standard. He showed me a vision of a graph with legalism on the bottom, liberty above that, and a higher standard above that. In this, Daniel is also our prototype. We all know the story… When Daniel and his 3 friends were taken as slaves and brought to Babylon, they maintained a higher standard concerning food and drink, and God blessed them for it. Was this life-long? It doesn’t appear to be, because Daniel 10: 2-3, referring to a 3 week period of fasting says, “In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.”
There are different strategies for different seasons, and an overall commandment to properly take care of our bodies, which are the vehicles through which we interface with the earth realm.
I Corinthians 6:19-20: “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
We are body, soul and spirit. Throughout Scripture, intense supernatural encounters had an affect on people’s physical bodies and emotions. We do not want any hindrances or limitations to the spiritual exploits God has for us in this next season. So, we must seek the Lord and be led by His Spirit concerning food and drink, exercise and media. We are all programmed by this world system to varying degrees. This is a good season to ask God to cleanse our conscious, sub-conscious and unconscious mind of all the darkness that has entered knowingly or unknowingly. And then we can be diligent to stay clean. Do not assume that anything is ok just because it seems morally clean on the conscious level. Instead, learn to lean upon the Spirit of Truth, not falling prey to either fear and legalism or presumption.
AN INCREASE IN THE SEER GIFT
There are 3 Hebrew words translated as prophet:
1. “Nabi”, which means “to bubble forth, as from a fountain”, or “to utter.” It is the first and most common word used for a Biblical prophet, and basically refers to the “knowing,” “feeling” and “intuitive” prophetic flow, which sometimes happens as you begin speaking.
2. and 3. The other 2 words, “ro’eh” and “hozeh” are both used of a prophet who predominantly “sees.”
Both are valid and necessary, and most people are stronger in one than the other. When praying about this, the Lord showed me an eagle soaring among the stars, with his eagle eye seeing far better at a distance than at close range. He was circling, as a bird of prey would do, and, from that heavenly perspective, was decreeing and declaring the word of the Lord into earthly situations. So, the trade for seeing more clearly is to come up higher. We must refuse to see from a low, human perspective, but must see as He sees and echo what He says, even if it doesn’t make sense within the confines of these 3 dimensions.
Ephesians 1:17-23, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”
So, Father, today we trade the old for the new. We say YES the process of maturation. We say YES to hearing You more clearly, depending on You more fully, and we receive Your grace to radically obey. We say YES to stewarding the mysteries of Your kingdom. We ask You to reveal to us any ways in which we are slaves of this world system and that You would pour out Divine strategy to break free, so we can operate as kings rather than slaves. We trade foolish and thoughtless words for Your decrees, and we ask Your Holy Spirit to guard our tongues. We yield to Your guidance throughout our healing and maturation process. And we say YES to living by the higher standard that You are offering to us. We say YES to Your invitation to “come up higher”, so that we can see as You see!
Genesis 7:11 says, “…on that day, all the fountains of the great deep were broken up and the windows of heaven were opened.” The fountains of the deep could represent the hearts of mankind. As hard-heartedness is broken up and gratitude, worship and thanksgiving gush forth, the heavens respond in a torrent of Divine blessing.
Matthew 25:29: “For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what He has will be taken away.” The ones who “have” are the ones who choose to focus on what God has given–even if it is little, even if it is in seed form. The who “do not have” are those who are focused on their lack (ingratitude). Gratitude forces your focus to shift from what you do not have to what you do have. And what you focus on multiplies! This is a spiritual law and works for all who apply it.
So today, even if you feel overwhelmed by pain or lack, draw upon God’s grace to “enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.” He will receive the faintest whisper of gratitude with a smile and will multiply that precious sacrifice.
May His beauty rain down upon you today….
When Adam and Eve sinned, mankind fell from spiritual dimensions and became subject to a very limited 3-dimensional reality and the constraints of time. Death claimed body, soul and spirit, and we were separated from God. When we are “born again,” our spirits are literally born again! We have passed from death unto life.
So our prayer should not be, “God, change me into something different.” Instead, it should be, “God, remove all that is hindering me from being who I truly am.”
Our spirits are “seated with Christ in heavenly places” (Eph. 2:6). And now, our souls are being restored, “transformed by the renewing of our minds” (Rom. 12:2). We are being changed “from glory to glory” (II Cor. 3:18). We are already transformed at spirit level, so now our souls are experiencing the process of sanctification, as His life flows out from our spirit, affecting our soul and body. It is the maturing process, just as a baby grows–not into a different person, but into a mature adult, able to function in the fulness of the destiny for which he was created.
So, no matter how high we go into supernatural, heavenly encounters, it all goes back to the basics of the cross and of Jesus’ shed blood. His blood poured out is the doorway that allows us to be born again of a different bloodline, one with no memory of the fall. When His flesh was torn and the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom, the separation between us and God the Father was removed, and the veil blinding our eyes from seeing and experiencing the realms we fell from was removed, too.
Because of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross and because He is alive, we are free to enjoy every heavenly realm. We are no longer bound to the limitations of earth and it’s dimensions!
Now that’s exciting!
Everyone who lives in this fallen world has known hurt, to a greater or lesser degree. Often, we respond to hurt by closing our hearts, in hopes of avoiding future hurt. We build a wall. The problem is that, when we do this, we must either keep everyone out or we must begin walking in judgement, deciding who is safe to allow behind our impenetrable fortress. Walls are all about self-protection.
But God has a better way…. He desires to be our protection, our fortress. Instead of walls of self-protection, He builds around us boundaries of His protection. He heals our wounds and dismantles the strongholds attached to them, showing us that our heavenly Father loves us and is strong enough to keep us safe. In that place of trust, we are free to open our hearts and to receive from imperfect people, knowing that God is our source, that He knows what we need, and that He can use anyone He chooses.
As a child (either natural or spiritual), we often respond sinfully to hurts by judging, retaliating, protecting ourselves or becoming offended or bitter. It is the expected response of a child, which is why Jesus warns us of the severity of offending “one of these little ones.” Once our hearts are defiled with these things, even from long ago, all we can do is be honest with ourselves and with God, releasing it in the safety of His healing presence and allowing Him to purge, to cleanse and to restore. Then, as we mature, He holds us to the higher standard of not allowing this defilement inside our souls in the first place, “turning the other cheek.”
Walls or boundaries.. we all must choose. But God’s sheltering wings are better, as we learn to live with an open heart… as He teaches us how to love.
